Welcome
The Parish of the Messiah is very
pleased to announce that the Rev. Devin McLachlan is
our Rector. July 10, 2005 was the first Sunday of his
ministry. All at Messiah welcome him to this community of
worship.
Messiah is a growing parish in the
Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. The people at Messiah
actively worship, serve, and learn together to “proclaim by word
and example the Good News of God in Christ.”
“I came to visit. I saw
the love of Christ expressed in the people. So I stayed,”
remarked one parishioner in a recent parish survey.
Whether you are looking for a
church home or interested in exploring where God is at this
point in your life, we invite you to discover:
-
our warm hospitality and care
for one another and the diversity of our parish family,
-
our rich tradition of liturgy
and music, celebrated in a full calendar of
services and
events,
-
an atmosphere where healing can
occur.
The church is
located one block from Lasell
College on Route 30 / Commonwealth Avenue in Newton, MA, a
community less than 10 miles west of Boston. Messiah
attracts members from 10 other cities as well as Newton.
The information in this website was
created to answer any questions you may have about our parish.

Who are we
We are part of the Diocese of
Massachusetts which is composed of 77, 000 members in 194
congregations throughout eastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the
Islands. Our congregations make up our diocese and our diocese is
part of the wider Episcopal Church, which in turn is part of a
larger, global community of Anglican Christians.
Our members reflect the diversity
of our communities and our state; lay people from all walks of life
and backgrounds, women and men who are ordained to serve as priests
and deacons; and women and men who are elected to serve as our
bishops.
In the Episcopal Church there is
room for your questions about God, faith and the church. If you are
looking for a community that will nurture your spirit and celebrate
your gifts, there's a place for you here.
We come together weekly to praise
and thank God in word and song, to hear God's word and to pray for
ourselves and others. We leave renewed and strengthened for our
daily lives.
Our work in the world is
reflected in our daily lives and our many ministries: with children
and families, with young adults and elders, with those who are
hungry, homeless, poor or in prison. We are called to minister in
places of need in our cities and to work together to address issues
of social and economic justice, at home and abroad. (from
